Putting My Ducks in a Row - It's a Wrap!

This final blog of my epic 2022 month-long roadtrip was largely necessitated by a few dear friends who do not do Facebook and would like to read about my travels and see my pictures from the trip. Well, that and the Christmas cards I am currently cranking out will likely reach a broader audience than my social media friends. So I have put all photos in Google Albums, and you will be able to view all through the links I have added to each blog post.

I ended the blogging of my summer roadtrip on September 19, a month after starting blogging it upon my return home. The end didn't come because I ran out of material (there were about a dozen sets of photos still queued up to launch), but because I had spent as much time blogging it as I had traveling at that point, and honestly I had become somewhat weary of the blog project. Also, a fitting "off-ramp" just seemed to present itself with the sunrise/sunset blog piece. Wow, am I glad I didn't try to do the blog while also travelling, as I needed the bit of distance and additional energy to get through it. In reality though, I sort of just left some things hanging, so I am going to use this post to wrap a big old fat red bow on it all, and also include links below to the as yet unpublished photos for the posts that did not happen. 

First, for the Facebook posts with no correlating blog post, I do not intend to go back and create blog posts for them, so here are the dates, relevant comments that appeared in the FB post that give that batch of photos some context, and links to the new Google Photo Albums for those of you not on FB and seeing all this for the first time: 
  • Landscapes, posted on FB Aug 28 -- Not really feeling any writing coming on today, so I'm just going to post some landscape shots. They pretty much speak for themselves! https://photos.app.goo.gl/nYAMv2F1oC5rKhL36
  • Buckingham Fountain, posted on FB Aug 31 -- Today I am going to throw a softball. I wrote about what it means to shoot a photo study in the blog for the Devil's Tower pictures. I did one other full photo study on this trip and that was at Buckingham Fountain in Chicago. Although I shot over three dozen images in that one, I am sparing you guys and posting my top favorites here. No blog for this one because the only thing that I would add to the explanation of a photo study that wasn't in the previous writeup is that water is fun to do a photo study with because the movement and/or freezing of water is fun to play with. Unfortunately, most of these shots froze the water because this shoot was mid-day in the blazing sun, so there wasn't a lot of latitude on exposures. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uJgEJNveYJN5m9UN7

  • Dimensional Art, Posted on FB Sep 10 -- While the interactive/immersive art that I last posted may not be everyone's cup of tea, here are some lovely sculptures from various places in my travels.   • Creatures, posted on FB Sep 13 -- I saw lots and lots of wildlife on my trip but most wound up being only a snapshot in my head. Good wildlife photography is hard. It requires patience; being in the right spot at the right time; having a really good telephoto lens on the camera; and a tripod, something to brace on, or a really steady hand. Too often when I spotted an animal I was unprepared to get a decent shot because I was driving, so the capture was just gone too quickly. But I did manage to get a few good wildlife images courtesy of a herd of bison that we drove right through, prairie dogs which are numerous and comical posers, a mule deer doe who visited me every morning while I was eating breakfast at my tiny house cabin in Hot Springs, and a variety of cooperative birds.  No blog on this post.   • Signs, posted on FB Sep 16 -- Today I am being sort of lazy and posting images of signs I saw in my travels that amused me or otherwise struck a note.
